My experience with the 4th of July

…Pass the bottle of Beam because tonight I can’t seem to say what I mean. don’t know if I would, even if I could… “Doublewhiskeycokenoice” – Dillinger Four

So, I recently celebrated my 32nd birthday and the only bad thing is that our busiest day of the year is the 4th of July(my birthday), which meant I was working long days extra days the two weeks leading up to my birthday.  I had an extremely long day on the 3rd filled with angry managers and rude receivers.  I was also under pressure trying to get done as fast as possible so that I could drive my friend, Ryan, and his neighbor, Ashley to the Angels’ game that night.

Now I am not a sports fan; I tend to enjoy/partake in the events surrounding the events – in this case tailgating.  As soon we got to the stadium I started drinking and I still really had not eaten anything except for some fruits all day. I finally had some carne asada that Ashley cooked and at the same time she bought some jello shots from a  shot-girl that was traveling around the parking lot(yes,a shot-girl  in the parking lot – these difficult economic times have brought out the best in American entrepreneurship).

By the time we made our way into the stadium for the game, I was feeling pretty good.  Once inside I never made it to my seat.  Ashley and I split off and ended up visiting the different booths buying beer after beer.  We ended meeting up with the rest of the group after about an hour or so…at this point I truly lost track of time.

That should have been the end of my night but when we got back to their complex a few of us ended up going to a bar in Fountain Valley.  The only thing I remember about that is having an Irish Car Bomb and thinking that I should not have gone out since I had been planning on getting to work 1:00 am and I was only two hours away from my anticipated start time.  That’s pretty much one of the last things I remember from that night.

What about work?  Well, I ended up  going in five hours later than what I wanted to.  Apparently sometime around two in the morning Ryan found out that I was passed out at another neighbor’s apartment.  Apparently six people were trying to wake me up with a variety of methods including a dog, water, yelling etc.  When I finally came to, Ryan took my keys and had me sleep it off.

The only thing that makes me feel better is that I am not the only one who has little or hazy recollection of the events that went on after hitting the bar.  I’ve tried to retrace the events from that night but its lost the way of brain cells. Oh well…another birthday down…more brain cells wasted away.
